Why not be a sperm donor?

Thinking about Becoming a Sperm Donor

Co-ParentMatch.com is actively recruiting sperm donor’s now so thank you so much for showing an interest in becoming a sperm donor.

If you are considering becoming a sperm donor you will need to think about your health, your families health, your level of fertility and whether you wish to have contact with any children born as a result of your sperm donations.

Before you become a sperm donor:

  • You must get your physical health checked by a doctor to confirm you are not at any risk from passing on a sexually transmitted infection or genetic disease.
  • You must have your sperm tested to ensure you are fertile and can help achieve a pregnancy. Male infertility is increasingly common so it is important to be checked.
  • You will need to abstain from any form of sexual activity for 3 days before you donate.

A female sperm recipient may ask you to donate usually between 1-3 days in a row during her fertility window. If you are donating outside of a clinic i.e. by home insemination method you should agree on a location that you are both comfortable with.

If you are donating sperm by a private agreement, i.e. outside of a fertility clinic you are likely to be classed as the child’s legal father and will have parental rights and responsibilities. Check out our legal facts section for more information.
